Feature documentary by director Nerijus Milerius. The film Life After Death tells the stories of four actors performing in films dying or mourning the death of their relatives. The actors Juozas Budraitis, Rasa Samuolytė, Dainius Gavenonis and Lukas Malinauskas were chosen to represent different generations. Portraits of the actors’ distinct generations help reveal the differences and similarities in the attitudes towards the death of oneself and the loss of a loved one. The film consists of two types of visual material: (a) cinematographic images of death from films made by other directors and (b) newly filmed footage of select actors. The stories of the different actors are edited in the principles of a parallel montage. This creates meaningful connections between the four actors’ stories, transforming the film into a reflection of the proximity of death and the fragility of life.
